The 25th Birthday celebration continues with crowd favorite Ben Love, Brewmaster of Gigantic Brewing Company. Pelican combined forces with this funk and soul loving alumnus to create a cocktail inspired beer ideal for the return of sunny weather. Inspired by Ben’s love of Mezcal Sours, Darron and Ben took a twist on this cocktail to create a uniquely balanced ale with tangerines, then aged for three months in fruity Mezcal barrels. This Bird-Day collaboration marries the bright and tart flavor of tangerine with agave and hints of vanilla-like toasted oak. Get your groove on with this soulful Bird-Day Volume II.

Had this beer las night. Pours a golden/orange color with a small head. Aroma is tangerine & vanilla with a hint of mescal/oak, different but pleasing. Taste is the same as aroma. Different, interesting beer. About 4 years old.

Clear red-tinged amber brew with modest foam in the Wander snifter. Super tangerine smelling. Tangy though not quite tart, with a mix of fruity notes edging toward the sourish flavors. All quite restrained and highly drinkable. The mezcal taste is so interesting and distinct, but works well with the light malty flavors.
This is hardly a Blonde Ale but more of a Fruit Beer enhanced by barrel aging. Citrus taste lasts long with that unusual fragrant boozy note. This has the refreshing qualitites of the sharper edge of flavors while being highly drinkable. From the 500 ml bottle purchased at Elizabeth Station.

Interesting beer. Up front are intensely sweet, ripe tangerines. They are joined by a woody tequila note, plus faint notes of honey and vanilla. I know mezcal barrels were used I can't make that distinction. It's good, refreshing and unique, but a bit discordant. Tangerines and agave just don't jibe for me.

A: The beer is somewhat hazy yellowish orange in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high off white head that quickly settled down, leaving a narrow collar around the edge.
S: Light to moderate aromas of toasted oak and tangerines are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell but also has notes of mezcal and some associated smokiness. No bitterness is perceptible.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I really enjoyed the taste of this beer as it had a nice balance of flavors from the tangerines, mezcal and oak barrels.

500ml bottle from Tavour. Brass colored pour, a few bubbles, then flat. Big burst of tangerine upon opening, light caramel, agave. Taste evens out the tangerine and caramel malts, still have light agave notes throughout. Even at 7% it still seems carry a bit of heat.

Mildly hazy, honey-orange body; massive amounts of rising carbonation; somewhat thick and creamy head, white and sticky; fine sheets of foam coat the glass interior. Fine smell of tangerine and heady, earthy spices; pine and juniper. The taste amplifies the smell characteristics; fresh tangerine; very mild malt base; basically little bitterness noted; ginger and cardamon. Heavy body; rich and velvety; textured smoothness; mild citrus tartness artfully counterbalanced with a airily sweet oak-like note.
This is one of the finest feeling beers I've experienced. It delivers a nuanced texture and smoothness like no other. Yet the fresh tangerine taste, tempered with some vanilla and oak barrel aging also shine through. This is a truly remarkable, thoroughly enjoyable anniversary beer, rare and unique in many ways.
Poured at 54 °F; no bottling data noted.

Interesting taste. Getting all the ingredients. Tangerines, salt and mescal. Plus some nice woodiness from the barrels.
Nice mouthfeel, smooth and fruity but salty finish .
I don't usually like this type of beer, but this was very tasty and went down a treat.
