We don't have to look far to find inspiration here on the Oregon Coast. It's present around every turn, ascent, or crashing wave. We're lucky enough to gaze out at two iconic Haystack Rocks in Pacific City and Cannon Beach, both shaped by the power of Mother Nature herself. Hazestack was born with the intention of balancing the rugged beauty of the Pacific Northwest with the incredible drinkability you've come to know with Pelican's imperial repertoire. This Double Hazy IPA greets you with a powerful punch of tropical citrus aroma and ripe flavors of stone fruit and mango. It's balanced with an astoundingly drinkable, hoppy finish with the perfect hint of malt sweetness. Add this double haze to your next getaway and feel inspired no matter where you are.

This beer pours a golden hazy color with a medium head and fresh sweet citrus and tropical fruit aroma. Nice taste with balanced sweetness and bitterness. It doesn't taste like an 8.8 ABV as it goes down quite smoothly. Rated 4-16-2023

Look: Medium orange and hazy on the pour, which generates a pillowy head to build and retain well, leaving webs of lacing behind
Aroma: Peach, musty orange, nectarine, apricot, ripe mandarins, light berry notes, bready malt, and a whiff of ethanol
Taste: Stone fruit comes on strong up front with everything I got on the nose but turned up to “10” and followed by an unwelcome hit of alcohol heat. Berry notes and citrus come next and intermingle with stone fruit through the close, which is again, quite hot
Mouthfeel: Full. Soft, medium-high carbonation, and hot and boozy on the finish
Overall: I’m not a fan of this one. Having recently had and liked these folks’ lower ABV hazy, Marine Haze, I had decently high hopes with this until I could smell the alcohol on the pour and hoped I was wrong. The flavor profile is decent as is the feel but from nose to finish, too much ethanol comes through and detracts from the aroma/flavor profile greatly. Oh well, you can’t win them all. YMMV

A low head follows a pour which shows a golden color. The taste is a combination of pine needles, hop cones and a strong alcohol taste. Its not really sour but it is very close with unripe star fruit taste adding to the sourness. The beer has way too much alcohol taste for me. Boneyard can make big high alcohol brews that hide their alcohol due to lots of body and hops but that is not the case here. It finishes with some tartness. I will never buy again.

Bought a six-pack at Total Wine. I normally love Pelican IPA's but this isn't my favorite.
Look is decent, nice haze but it had small yeast chunks floating which is a turnoff, head was very weak for an Imperial IPA at only a half inch which quickly fell apart.
Smells and tastes very acidic with a grapefruit forward taste, decent body, little to no maltiness. Mild bitterness but isn't too sweet, I do wish this was a little bit sweeter.
Overall an "okay" hazy imperial. I won't buy it again but drank the six-pack without complaints. The high ABV probably helps with that...

Poured from a 12oz can. 50 IBU's,
INGREDIENTS:
Two-Row Malt, Flaked Oats, Honey Malt, Centennial Cryo Hops, Ekuanot Cryo Hops, Pure Kveik Yeast, Pure Coastal Water
A nice pour with a dank nose. At 8.8 it is a sipper, lots of hops and tropical notes the ABV is there and a bit of a turn off..
Has a sweet finish.
All in all a nice big Imperial.

this is a great name for a pelican beer, given the location of their haystack rock spot and that this is a double hazy, super smart, and its absolutely a beer thats going to get you tabled. i asked for a small pour, ended up with a pint, totally irresponsible but it is so good i couldnt stop drinking it, heck of a buzz walking out of here, let me just say. hazy rusty orange colored with a lot of density but still a soft glow in the bright daylight. the aroma is awesome, pulpy mango and ripe stone fruit, almost hard to believe its all hops and not actually fruited, but i think that is the case, they certainly present it as such. juicy peaches, lemongrass, mango, cantaloupe, and tangerine all hit in the nose, very summery complexion in a beer that smells and tastes and even kind of feels lighter than it looks. i love the low bitterness on this, its so modern without it, not green or overdosed either despite the hop pungency, impressive technique. i wish i knew what the hops are in it, seems southern hemisphere to me with all the fruitiness, could be some nelson working for sure, just delicious and amazingly fresh. some wheaty type heft to the grain in the flavor but its dry, more body than flavor too, just simple and balancing, sort of extends the flavor some, but the finish is clean as these go. very little alcohol in play either for its strength. supremely well made big hazy with a personality all of its own, sometimes these get samey, but not this one. among my favorites from our visit to their impressive new facility in lincoln city!
