The swells of the sea live just behind the crashing waves–smoother and crisper, some would say. With this swell of inspiration, Superswell was born, perfectly balanced and refreshing but with an extra intensity of flavor and ABV to warm up after an evening of adventure. This Double Pilsner is the ideal crossroad for Pilsner and IPA drinkers alike, meeting in the middle with clean and firm bitterness but with the sweet and toasty biscuit flavors and crispy finish you have to come to know and love from the Pelican lineup. Enjoy this beer during your backyard BBQ, after a swell day of camping, a great biking trip, or a day out on the water. Superswell is guaranteed to add a super snappy finish to the end of any day.

This was super cheap, at $8 for a 6 pack of regular sized cans. Definitely delivering bang for your buck.
Pours with a big pillowy cream colored head and a slightly hazy amber body.
Notes of butter, lemon zest, black pepper, rosemary, juniper and cold sourdough bread. Very much like a typical pilsner, but heavier and breadier.
And very bready on the palate. Tastes exactly like I would expect a double pilsner to taste. An extra malty take on the classic. Kinda pretzely.
As expected, the mouthfeel is a little heavy for the style. Not ideal for crushable comfort beer, but it's fine.
This is a really good beer, and it hits exactly the right notes for what it's supposed to be. That said, I question whether such a thing as a double pilsner can ever be truly great.

Darker in color than typical Pilsner, as expected for a 2x brew. Pillowy head like no other pour I’ve seen in 40 years of swilling. The Pilsner character comes through, separating this from an IPA or other variety. This is an imminently drinkable and enjoyable brew. Pelican comes through on this one.

I asked my girlfriend to go to the store and get me the superswell Dipa. When I got home from the dog park I noticed she got the double pilsner instead. I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't make her sleep on the couch tonight..

This beer pours a golden yellow color with a nice head and a lemony citrus aroma. The taste is carbonation and sweet malt and a mild hop taste. Very good for a pilsner. It is not your everyday Pilsner, it is unexpectedly different, but very good. Rated 11-15-2022

single picked up at John's Market (SE location) in Portland, OR
12oz can poured into a Bissell Brothers pint
P came gushing out of the can; pours orange w/ a slight haze; 1-2f foamy white head; fairly quick recession
N light-med; sour, fermented fruit and mash notes, surprisingly; not real pleasant imo
T mild-moderately sweet crackery malts and cereal grains carry earthy hops; a med-bold earthy bitterness coats the tongue in the finish and lingers; maybe a touch of vanillin in there as well; a simple profile; a bit abrasive but rounds out as it warms, thankfully
Mf med-full bodied w/ med-high carb; creamy; notable; probably the best element of this beer
O while I didn't care for the nose (although maybe an 'off' can) and initial bold bitterness of the profile, the mouthfeel definitely made up for it; not quite what I was expecting; ended up being alright, though

ah yes, the ole imperial pils, you just dont see many of these around anymore, ive always liked this style, i think you can do a little more with it than a conventional one in terms of hops, grain complexity, and even things like teas and herbs and such, but this one is pretty direct, very flavorful, not too heavy or strong to not still be summery, and really well refined, even though its just short of perfectly clear and maybe a shade deeper than expected in color. cool to get to have a bunch of new ones at their new spot in lincoln city, i was so stoked to be here! a real bright golden color, and an airy and excited white head, pretty pour. aroma is pretty assertive on the hops, european and grassy to me, clean though too, none of that greenness or linger, subtle peppery character to the hops too, a light honey note to the grain but more of a biscuit thing, some floral element there but on the drier side, slightly baked but still pale, minerals abound as well. the flavor is hoppy all the way through, sweeter up front, an almost rice aspect in the mix, jasmine or daffodil, light pine and grass, white grapefruit, honeysuckle, dry earthiness, hearty cereal character, and fast carbonation washing it all pretty clean on the swallow, punctuated but a little hop kick and just a quick breath of alcohol on the swallow, everything in awesome proportion. i like this being boldly hoppy yet also traditional in terms of varietals, seems noble still even though its bigger. i probably shouldnt drink three or four of these, but i could pretty easily. delicious with steamed clams!

Look: Slightly cloudy burnt orange with a huge, frothy off-white head that ever-so-slowly settles down some, leaving awesome-looking lacing behind
Aroma: Biscuits, earthy, citrus-forward, and sweet floral hop notes, warm bread, and some honey-like sweetness
Taste: Starts off with a citrus punch that leans orange-forward and includes lime and grapefruit before being joined by a sweet, bready wave of malt. Biscuits with honey and bread go back and forth as the hops deepen in flavor and closes with citrusy hops
Mouthfeel: Full, somewhat smooth throughout, medium-high carbonation, and a soft and smooth finish
Overall: I dig it. I wasn’t sure what to expect from a Double Pilsner but this has elements that I both did expect and other that didn’t, but overall, it’s pretty tasty. Heavier in feel than I expected but flavor-wise, was in the ballpark – almost an IPA meets Golden Strong Ale but with a lager-ish feel. Fun to try something very different from a brewery I enjoy a lot
