This beer pours a dark amber color with a medium tan head that goes away quickly. The aroma is caramel and toffee with a very mild bitterness in the taste. Also, some sweetness in taste and aroma. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied. This is a very good Red/Amber Ale, probably my second favorite. The only drawback is a little too much carbonation bubbles.

this is killer beer, a little more autumn than high summer, but no denying its among the best imperial red ales in the game, i was stoked on this, and even among more trendy and happening styles in here, this was maybe my favorite beer from our recent visit to their new location, so dope there on the patio! this is a monster of a beer, and it drinks big and bold, but its neither as boozy or as sweet as many of them are, and its malt layers are impressive. deep amber to even chestnut colored brew, not as viscous as anticipated and with a short khaki head on it, low glow to it, pretty well refined looking, not intimidating. the nose is amazing, leather, raisin, toffee, fig, black tea, smoked meat, and wet soil. its right away taking me to october time, windy and cold. its got some caramelized richness but isnt too intense there, and it has some hops too, making it balanced with some apparent bitterness and very subtle citrus, great proportions to this, subtly complex on the grain side, neutral on the ferment i reckon. the flavor rules, it opens up and expands on the palate a lot, maple and brown sugar notes on the sweet side, fruity with dried cherry and cranberry and date in the middle, then everything from pretzel bun and bran muffin to oak and hickory and dry hay. its crazy how much is going on here, toffee, almond, dry cocoa, cherrywood smoke, graham cracker, old wood, fallen leaves, its amazing. its almost light in body for all the flavor, but the alcohol is there the whole way, as are the hops, getting stronger on both fronts as it warms, fairly bitter late and with some pine in the mix, but it remains balanced and only adds to the depth. weirdly drinkable for the style, and most notably, this is exciting beer in a style i rarely get jacked up about, really this is lights out for a strong red, as good as it gets for me. not to be missed, hopefully this will be around in the fall, might become my go to college football sipper...

Clear amber with three fingers of cream color head. Rings of lace show up as the levels drop.
Smell is malty sweet with some floral hop action.
Taste is sweat malts with some balancing hops but overall sweet.
Mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation. The finish is mildly dry and sweet.
Overall a sweet impy.
