Pleasant fruited sour, what it may lack in complexity is balanced by an overall nicely rounded funky character.
Presentation: 330 ml short bottle. Shiny silver typographic design over a blue starry night type background. Format presents nicely their special release series vs the regular release cans. Description offers main ingredients, details of the mixed fermentation, added fruits and wine barrel aging. Notes TO623, best before 04/35, and shows 7.5% Vol. Served in a tulip glass.
L - Copper pour with a rose hue, very flat presence with almost non existing foam.
S - Overall nice funky nose, generic Brett dominates with a generic fruity note. Not particularly complex but pleasant and identifiable.
T - Taste follows with a nice funky range, sourness is muted, not a lot of acidity, and instead the hay and leather from the Brett charges over a generic fruit flow.
F - Medium-light body, very flat, the mouthfeel does not have much character and hurts the brew some.
O - It is pleasant, but feels it lacks the promised complexity. But maybe more than the flavor, smell or presence the very flat body may hurt it the most as the other elements are not particularly remarkable to make it shine.
Notes: Fun try, glad I could get this bottle and glad Octavo Arte is trying these complex mixed-fermentations and barrel-aging. These are difficult and Pegaso feels is on the right track. I’ll be on the lookout for future offerings.
