first i am seeing or hearing of this operation, and i have to say, the beer is solid, but the website description seems way off, like a beer person didnt write it, they call this a hybrid of czech pils and biere de garde, which really isnt true at all, and they say its great for cellaring, which is also an odd claim for a pils type, maybe their ai bot got its wires crossed. in fact thats so off that it makes me like this less, feels like a gimmick, but that said, the liquid is nice, recognizable as a pils for sure with a european lean to the malt and the yeast, its got some hops too, a modern peppy balance and mouthfeel, and is very drinkable overall without being samey or boring, so well done with the recipe and the execution, this is just different enough. deeper colored than blonde but not into the orange range, maybe sort of brassy, not fully clear but bright anyway, average white head on it, plenty of speedy carbonation, nice. the aroma is a little fuller on the grain side, biscuit and bread character, crackery still and pretty fresh in this, dry, hearty in a way that seems almost healthy, hops are herbal and interesting in this, not quite noble maybe, but leaning a little grassy, dried flowers, white tea, sweet cicely or something, familiar lager yeast, tidy ferment it seems. it tastes like it smells, grain driven and just a tad more full spectrum there, light middle sweetness and a sort of agricultural vibe, plenty of back end hops, again herbal and fresh, subtle citrus, even a white wine wrinkle there, maybe there are french hops in here? subtle but in some ways defining, even with relatively low finishing bitterness. its not super snappy but has some refreshment value anyway, and i like the pace. light medium body, uplifting texture, lightly doughy recall, pretty good overall. nice sneakily unique pils here.
