Cornflower Yellow Wax
Bottled 2015
750ml bottle poured into a snifter
A- pours black in color, no quite opaque, with a one-finger foamy off-white head that has short retention and leaves just a ring around the edge
S- classic smoky B&L aroma up front; smoked malt, slightly peaty, chocolate, charred wood. Of the additional adjuncts, I can detect a spicy peppery note, as well as a hint of nuttiness (perhaps from fenugreek). Not picking up any cumin on the nose.
T- as expected, smoked malt up front with notes of charred wood, chocolate & smoked pork. Mid-palate gives some light bourbon notes, as well as some nutty tones and maple-like sweetness. The finish gives more smoked malt with a linger that definitely has a peppery spicy element to it. There's just a hint of spicy flavor that lingers with the smoke
M- medium body with moderate-low carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that continues into a slightly warming finish
O- one of the more subtle variants, although it does add a peppery element that is noticeable in the finish
