750ml Burgundy wax top bottle
Poured into a snifter
A- pours a deep brown color with just a hint of light creeping through, one-finger foamy khaki head has short retention
S- heavy smoked malt on the nose, followed by raw pepper skin & cracked pepper. Undertones of bandaids, chocolate, campfire & charred berries
T- classic B&L flavor up front, heavy smoked malt that brings notes of smoked meat, mesquite & charred wood. Mid-palate brings out sweet notes of chocolate, black strap molasses, figs & charred grapes. The pepper addition becomes known near the finish, and plays out as more of a pepper skin flavor, rather than any heat. The finish is somewhat similar to a heated scotch, as it lingers long of smoked malt
M- medium-thick body with very low carbonation leads to a mouthfeel that struggles to turn just a bit creamy into the finish, alcohol well hidden
O- a solid variant that adds just the right amount of pepper flavor to the smoky base beer

Was really looking forward to this beer.
Poured a motor oil black, with almost no carbonation.
Smoke took over most pepper in the nose.
Tasted of peppers, smoke, and slight bourbon. BUT, Carbonation would have REALLY helped the taste.
Back to the lack of Carbonation, didn't help.
Overall, a really good beer. That would have been great if it had more (some) carbonation.
