Cloudy dull orange appearance.

A rough pour yielded a HUGE khaki head (careful pouring!); strong, frothy lace.

Pineapple, banana & fresh soap notes in the nose.

Medium mouthfeel.

Pineapple & banana flavors up front; dry yeast notes on the finish.

A fruity, balanced Belgian IPA; well done.

 

 

 

 

A: Pours a slightly hazy medium amber in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and moderate medium golden yellow colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall dense sudsy foamy beige head that slowly reduces to a large patch of medium thick film covering a little more than 70% of the surface of the beer and a large patch of thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate to significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of biscuit, toasted, and caramel malts with a light amount of caramel sweetness along with a light to moderate aroma of slightly fruity + spicy yeast. There are also just shy of moderate aromas of citrus/grapefruit, herbal, and tropical mango hops.

T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of biscuit, wheat, toasted, and caramel malts with a light amount of caramel sweetness. That is followed by a light to moderate flavor of slightly fruity + spicy yeast. Finally there is a moderate flavor of citrus/grapefruit, herbal, and tropical mango hops which impart a light to moderate amount of bitterness which slowly fades away leaving a spicy yeast flavor lingering.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Light to moderate amounts of dryness in the finish.

O: Very enjoyable with a nice combination of flavors + aromas from the malts, yeast, and hops. Easy to drink and the alcohol is well hidden.

 

 

 

Appearance: Cloudy amber with huge head. Little lace.

Aroma: Floral hops, quite nice here.

Taste: Slightly bitter but still floral. Not bad but this can shows some age as the flavors seem muted. Would love to have again fresh.

Tasty IPA, tropical hopping with some earthy, tea notes...I also note some crakery malts, ripe fruit, and some tart apple late on the palate. Enjoyable, worth a try

16 ounce can into tulip glass; no can dating, but is a recent release. Pours hazy deep orange/amber color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big grapefruit, pineapple, peach, apricot, mango, melon, pear, lemon/orange peel, pepper, clove, light banana/bubblegum, caramel, toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/earthy hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and moderate bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, pineapple, peach, apricot, mango, melon, pear, lemon/orange peel, pepper, clove, light banana/bubblegum, caramel, toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Moderate yeast spiciness and herbal/grassy/citrus peel hop bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, pineapple, peach, apricot, mango, melon, pear, lemon/orange peel, pepper, clove, toasted biscuit, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/earthy hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance and zero astringent hop flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitter/spiciness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/bready/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a great Belgian IPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/earthy hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. Near perfect balance between the hop and yeast flavors, on top of the malt backbone. A very enjoyable offering.

Poured from a 16oz can into a Spieglau IPA glass.

Look is a very dark amber with a big full head.

Big hit of that saison yeast aroma balanced by a dark caramel malt. Not much in terms of hops unless they are of the flowery Belgian variety.

Taste is a more intense saison. Not incredibly hoppy but like an imperial saison.

Very good beer. Kinda misnomer calling it an IPA, but still delicious.
