A: Pours a jet black with a creamy, lingering tan mousse.
S: Aromas of dark chocolate, coffee, and roasted grain are underscored by a nice woodsmoke scent. While I was expecting a bit more depth, this ale still displays a very enticing aroma.
T: A woodsmoke flavor dominates the entry, but slowly gives way to notes of heavy cream, vanilla bean, dark chocolate, roasted grain, and coffee. A subtly earthy hop backtaste is present just before the finish, which provides a final flourish of chocolate, coffee, and woodsmoke notes.
M: Medium-bodied, smooth, and creamy. A little wet for my taste, but still very drinkable.
O: This is a nice smoked porter, but there is room for improvement. If the beer were a little drier and the flavors were a bit more integrated, I think it would be a bit more memorable. Still, I enjoyed it and wouldn't mind having it again.
