They brought this back! That's a good thing, because America needs more Zwickels.

Pours a little flat-looking. A nice shade of gold, but not much by way of head or effervescence.

Smells wonderfully Zwickel-ish: big weediness, grass, pollen, hay, and barley. Like walking through a field at sunrise.

Tastes... limp, sadly. All the wonderful nodes hinted at in the aroma are present, but only on the very front end of the beer. They quickly give way to a middle that's like a solid, but weak, American blonde, and they end on some yeasty dryness. Not bad at any point, but a little disappointing.

A: Pours a relatively clear gold with a thin white mousse.

S: Subtle aromas of bready yeast, biscuit, grass, straw, and minerals are present on the nose.

T: Notes of straw, damp hay, lemon rind, grass, minerals, biscuits, and yeast wash across the palate. The finish is sharp and clipped with pronounced yeast, biscuit, and hay flavors.

M: Light-to-medium in body, dryish, and firm. Carbonation is crisp. It seems this beer was designed for quaffing.

O: I tend to like Against the Grain's products, but this lager does nothing for me. In all honesty, I've yet to be impressed by one of their lagers, but their ales almost always hit the spot. Pass on this one. There are far better kellerbiers on the market.

Served in a shaker pint glass at McGee's.

I think I know how this beer's name translates (something along the lines of "no smile at my neighbor(s)"), but I just don't get it... It pours a clear straw topped by about a half-finger or so of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises light grass, light biscuit, and a touch of mineral water. Actually pretty pleasant. The taste, though, turns a bit downward, with the grass, wheat-y biscuit, and minerals returning, but bringing along with them a strange flavor akin to really dark toast (or something along those lines). This evil vein colors things in a decidedly negative tone, to the degree that this stuff hurt a bit to finish. The body is fairly light, with a light moderate carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, a decent pils if it weren't for that damned off-flavor. Shame, really...
