Enjoyed on tap at the Against the Grain Brewery poured in a 16oz glass mug.
A - Pours a amber resin, full finger of white cream head, large & small bubbles, good lacing, opaque.
S - Carmel, smokey, hickory, pepper, mostly missing
T - Starts with a minor creamy carmel with small smokey taste. finishes with a hickory flavor and the faintest of pepper.
M - mildy creamy, wouldn't say this is frothy, viscosity is low, thin
O - This is a miss on many levels. nose is poor, taste is bland, mouth is ok at best. Yes, i did like the mellow pepper flavor that even tends to linger for minutes but doesn't carry this beer into the 'good' category. This is a don't buy. waste of $4.75.

"Before you Citrass Down, better have some Pepperation H
ABV: 7.20% IBUs: 35.00 O.G.: 16.70°
Cherry wood smoked amber ale, brewed with chile peppers and aged with hickory wood. Another great experiment from your loving friends at Against the Grain Brewery. We start out with a base of pale ale and cherry wood smoked malt giving a nice sweet smokey flavor and aroma. The addition of caramel and Vienna malt lends toasty and caramel flavors while the German Magnum hops balance out the sweetness with a clean bitterness. Then we get a little weird by adding the puree of Guajillo, Morita, Pasilla and Chipolte peppers. This combination provides earthy, dark fruit and smokey chile flavors. Then we take it a step further with the post fermentation addition of Habanero to give bright fruit flavors and a slight heat and hickory wood to give some honey and cocoa like flavors. Very complex and drinkable beer."
A chile, smoked, helles, or amber beer? This is an Interesting brew... German hops and Vienna malt give this brew a complex balance. It's not super spicy, nor overly smokey. I get more of a German influence then I would want, but overall, it's an interesting concoction.
