Hey I’m glad to see that you chose “Bohemian Pilsner” for this beer! That’s exactly what I thought too when I had it, that it’s closer to a Czech lezák than to an ale, as it is advertised.
The can boasts that it is made with “rice grown from the waters of Mt. Fuji” (honestly, can you really tell the difference?) and that it is an ale. You CAN for sure see why, because it is definitely high fermented but the hops feel kind of unusual to the kind, feel kind of out of place. Actually I like these hops, because I like a good Czech lezák so I tend to like this beer too - but there’s always a “but...”
It feels like they made an okay ale and wanted to do something with it to make it different and they added these hops to it which are also very decent but the end result is just isn’t something you would call natural. It makes me feel that yeah it’s okay but there’s something weird about it - like most Japanese beers. Artificial flavoring? Maybe. Something too intensive? Maybe? It really feels like adding syrup to water and the two just wouldn’t mix. The ale-ness and the pilsner-like quality stay separated. Wouldn’t be bad if they could decide which one they wanted to make...
Although the good thing about it is that it isn’t as bad as Suntory’s ale or the efforts of the other major players. It is drinkable and it isn’t bad. But for me, it isn’t how I want my beer to be. I like mine to be natural (as opposed to being artificial) and this one is just too made up, too forceful, just as its flavor collapses into an unnatural mess halfway during the can, at a warmer temperature. Well, don’t expect “real” craft in Japan, especially not from a big fish.

This is a good one ! Clear yellow with a white head that quickly thins but never disappears completely, laces glass nicely. Just the right balance of hops to clear malts.

This was served to me at Hama Sushi, after I basicaly complained about Kirin. This was in fact from the owner's private stock! (It pay's to become a loyal regular customer at these places!!)

Had this one on-tap at a famous houtou (wintersquash and thick noodle soup) restaurant in Yamanashi, Japan.

Appearance - Light golden color. Retains a thin head with some lacing on the glass.

Smell - Very light with some hops up front.

Taste - A pretty good pilsener. A little hoppy with some high quality Mt. Fuji water which makes it refreshing in spring and summer.

Mouthfeel - It's smooth like water but keeps the pilsner feel with the hops and light malt on the tongue.

Drinkability - I can go for a few of these in one sitting. It's a refreshing beer in the warm to hot seasons.

I recommend this one if you go to Yamanashi, Japan to see Mt. Fuji.

A: Poured a bright, clear golden color with light orange hues and a creamy white head that faded quickly.

S: On the nose was sweet corn, a very light floral hopping and grassiness.

T: For flavor there was fresh cereal grains, a light floral hop fade and finished dry.

M: The mouthful was soft and light with low carbonation, nice crispness and a dry grass hop lacing.

D: Ok drinkability per style.

unlike super dry, unfortunately, you just don't see this one everywhere you turn. i can only think of one store that i shop at that carries this. too bad, this is a nice premium j-mac.

Asahi's Fujisan is an impressive, good-looking beer, especially coming from my least favorite macro. looks like a real pils, with active carbonation and a big, healthy head, good retention, even some lacing. i'm having a really hard time smelling this because, as it's the beginning of mosquito season, there is bug-killing smoke in the air. still, i can tell this has a pretty good smell, obviously hoppy. not quite what i expect from a good pils, but not bad.

very smooth, easy drinking, i have a new current favorite macro. it's a little tastier than most, but still has a hint of the tap water. compared to a japanese rice lager, this is grapefruit bitter. recommended.

Poured from a 12 oz. can into a pint glass.

The marketing says that this is made from water from mount Fuji. Not sure if this just marketing [like Coors], but I was pleasantly surprised by this brew.

Poured a a crystal clear golden/orange. Had a small white head which dissapated rather quickly. Moderate carbonation can be seen rising.

Aroma was quite floral with some sweet pears/apples thrown in. The taste was light and smooth. Nice lager yeast and malt taste. Some moderate hops at the end. Quite pleasent.

Mouthfeel was lightly cleansing with a medium/light mouthfeel. Overall, a very drinkable beer. Definitely better than I was expecting [certainly not your typical Japanese rice lager]. A nice social beer.
