Poured little foam. Regular black stout color. Smells smokey, malty and with a hint of copper. A little thick with hints of dark chocolate or black coffee. The alcohol taste seems to be hidden pretty well for a 9.5% ABV.
A beer like this is pretty hard to find around in the Phillipenes. Nothing similar is available at supermarkets or convenience stores across the country and you have to buy directly from a handful of breweries to find an imperial stout. I've had my fair share of beers like this in Canada. They aren't exactly my cup of tea but I'll have one occasionally. From memory, I dont think Burdin beats out the Canadian imperial stouts I've had but it can definitely hold its own, mostly because of how easy it is to drink for such a high ABV. Either way I generally rank high ABV beers lower than I should but that's just because I don't enjoy them as much as other styles. If you ever get a chance to try this beer, then do it. They have lots of other options at Apolong Brewery too.
