Known internationally as a world class wheat beer provider, as the Schneider brewers embark on the strength of bock but with the backbone of wheat, its quite obvious that now they are simply showing off.
Tap X Homage pours a cloudy gold with tethers of burnt orange and bronze piercing through. Its tall and sturdy froth is long, creamy and confidently meringue-like. As wafts of banana bread and spiced rum fill the nose, it comes alongside of bold character of citrus, stone fruit, clove and vanilla. As its bready-sweet taste slathers on the tongue, a notion of angel-food cake, honey biscuit and toasted caramel come to mind as well.
Highly complex and compellingly drinkable, the middle palate blossoms with juicy malt sweetness. Caramel and honey weave into a light cakey-sweet savoriness. Trending playfully acidic, a wine-like tartness accompanies the esters of lemon, apple, papaya and banana. Clove, white pepper and faint cumin round out an earthy spiciness ahead of a mild peppery and grassy finish. Hints of bubblegum and vanilla have a soothing effect on its spicy alcohol warmth.
Medium-bodied, the ale reads lighter because of its moderate acidity, but also larger because of its complex and lingering wheaten sweetness. Minty-cool in finish, the beer carries a strong fruit, spice and wine character as the malt relaxes and the drinkability strengthens.
