Undecipherable date code on label; drank 11/5/23 @ the Yarchives.

Mostly opaque dull purple/brown appearance.

A slow pour yielded a tiny, bubbly tan head which quickly dissipated; no lacing remained.

Tart strawberry & mild wood notes in the nose.

Medium mouthfeel.

Tart strawberry & mild wood flavors.

The base beer has depth & intrigue; this one off dumbs it down to a simple sour fruit experience. I won't bother tracking this down again.

Poured from 11.2 fluid ounce bottle into glass. Date code on label is '15.307'
Ruby brown colored body, looks to be cloudy. No head, just a few bubbles with a vigorous pour. No lacing.
Aroma is sweet, tart cherries, with earthy, woody, and leather background.
Cherry taste is not as sweet as the aroma. Tart cherry taste mixes with barrel note, also woody and earthy.
Thin to medium mouth feel.
Repeated sips brings out the sour/tart of the beer. Very much tastes like a cherry flavor beer that has been aged in a conifer wood barrel.

Clear dark ruby red with absolutely no lace. Given the thick syrupy texture, this is no surprise.

From within an Antiek snifter, one perceives sweet tart cherries. A bowl of berries follows as does oak and some other woody aroma. Perhaps that's what larch barrel smells like.

The flavor is no surprise; sweet tart cherries exactly as expected from the nose. Wood flavors are far more prevalent than the aroma suggested. Lots of tannins are in the medium duration finish. This is quite reminiscent of rich red wine.

The full body and smooth texture is barely moved by light carbonation. Alcohol is prominent yet below expectation and followed by mild astringency.

While I am hard pressed to accept this as a Weisenbach, it is quite tasty and reviewed to my personal taste rather than style. I enjoyed it while watching the Daytona 500.

Decanted into a standard American pint glass. Pours a cloudy, almost murky dark amber with very little head to speak of. Nose is slightly malty with almost of hint of clove or more cardamom. "The tastes the thing," though. Almost a chardonnay start, with mushroom, birch bark, and mold finish. Very little body. It was interesting, but clearly an acquired taste.
