Stone fruit nose gives way to notes of pineapple, grapefruit, and nectarine. Pleasant malty backbone gives good balance to the beer before a refreshing finish.

Pint pour on draught at the brewery. Served in a Willi Becher glass. It is an attractive pour: apricot-orange with a large, fluffy, egg-white head and lots of thick, swirling lacing. The smell is fruity and fragrant with lemon, pineapple, berry, and other tropical fruits. The taste follows with sweet pineapple and red berry balanced by tart lemon and grapefruit. It has a big, fairly sweet malt backbone and is well-balanced and only mildly bitter. This ale is well-bodied and it is easily drinkable at 8% ABV. Overall, Heavy Spectrum is a very solid DIPA. It boasts a throwback hop bill of El Dorado, Galaxy, and Citra from which the brewer has coaxed a lot of flavor. I could see drinking a lot of it on the deck.
