When the winter darkness descends and the world is silenced in snow and silence, Julefred emerges. A dark ale with a Belgian touch – complex, warming and without added spices. Only barley malt, hops, water and Belgian yeast are allowed to speak. With its deep malt body, soft bitterness (IBU 16), dark glow (EBC 80) and 6.8% alcohol, Julefred gives you just that: calm, depth and a taste of true beer tradition in the midst of the chaos of the Christmas season.
Ingredients:
Water, Barley Malt, hops, yeast.

Copenhagen 26/4 2026. 44 cl can from Best of Beers web-shop getting rid of their Christmas beer at a fair price. Black can with a sticker made out to look like to/from label from a Christmas gift. Cute.
Pours opaque murky, dark mahogany with a mid-sized off-white head. Settles as a thin patch of foam floating in the middle of the glass. No lacing.
Aroma is medium intense. Dark and sweet with sweet malts in abundance and a hint of brown sugar. Caramel, toffee and linoleum. Whiff of musty old cellar.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, soft, almost flat texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed and balanced by an almost as strong bitterness. Aftertaste is lightly bitter with a sweet undertone. Lingers for a while. Finish is semidry,
Pretty straight forward, malty Christmas beer without any sweet spices.
