From the just expired half liter bottle, it pours a hazy brown color with a very nice off-white head that slowly diminishes and leaves some spots. The nose gets some bread and bananas, possibly a little caramel. The mouth gets a nice, easy drinking wheatbier. Yum!

Had a glass in Nuremberg, DE. Not big on wheat beer, but I did like this one. Dunkel may be the answer! Great malt with a slight hop finish.

For the record the labelling hasn't changed one iota to date vs that shown above. (ps holds well)
L- Quite dark brown, quite hazy, pours with a 5mm pale tan head.
S- I just get some mild toastiness.
T- Mild toastiness, decent malts into a light hoppy finish.
F- It's a bit deeper than a regular Hefe but I'm surprised it's not got much more robust taste or feel to show for being a dunkles.
O- At a point like this I wonder if dinner has muted my palate, not that I ate anything that should have caused that. I think I was just expecting a bit more of a presence from this and it's not forthcoming.
500ml bottle Bought from BeersOfEurope/UK for home delivery as part of a mixed pick-your-own order.

500ml bottle from Beers of Europe (£2.59):
A murky brown with some orange tinges & a large, dome shaped head on top that's foamy & very thick looking with great retention too. The nose is slightly darker than expected with a few roasted malts & smoky notes coming through on top of some faint banana & clove. It's quite light really with a few earthy malts carrying through to the taste with more smoked flavours & a little more of the banana & cloves this time around but it's not your standard dunkelweizen really. The body was light-medium & it was strongly carbonated with a sharp, fizzy finish that was dry too.

A: Massive head. Light mahogony body.
T: Lots of banana and bubblegum. Nice and zingy. Nothing else to say about it.
O: Very good. Not my favourite style but I prefer this over Weihenstephanen.

Appearance: Medium chestnut; cloudy; medium head; good lacing

Aroma: Malty; yeasty; cloves; bananas

Taste: Good flavor, but a bit weak and watery; expected more body from a Dunkel.

Remarks: Did not score A, T, S, M at that time; so please disregard those scores

Poured into weizen glass, dark brown, no opacity unless held up to the light. Thick, creamy head (2 fingers) faded slowly, with half finger head remaining throughout tasting. Ample carbonation. Thick, fill, creamy mouthfeel, with smooth taste, the full grain flavor lasting in the mouth. Tasty! A nice beer for a grey winter's day....

Look: pours a hazy brown color with a nice white fluffy head.
Smell: Hop, yeast, banana, sweet malts and cloves
Taste: Banana, sweet malts, clove again and some caramel. The aftertaste is very dry and very thin
Mouthfeel: Medium carbonation and a very very thin body
Overall: Smell is nice, the taste as well, but it feel too thin to be perfect. Bit like a watered down German Hefeweizen

Classic strongly flavored dark German wheat beer.

Dark amber color with a touch of brown and the cloudy hefeweizen look. Has the appealing Bavarian quality of subtle, creamy carbonation that lasts so well in the glass. Fills the mouth with flavor. Strong hefeweizen estery flavors, very fragrant. Tastes of rye bread, ripe banana, and lots of cloves. Caramel and roasted malt flavors. Touch of hops is just right.

One of the best dark wheat beers I've had in the lower-alcohol German style. After the flavors melt in your mouth for a while you are eager for another gulp.
