August 2005: Draught at a Turkish restaurant in Odense (had it also later on two other occasions in Denmark). Served too cold. Surprisingly dark colour, orange to brown, cloudy. Moderate but nice hefe aroma and flavour, tolerable hops. Went nicely with the Turkish buffet. Pleasant cloves aftertaste.

Special release for "Beer Test 2003" in Denmark so the brewery could decide which new beer to bring to the market...

Appearance: straw color, fair amount of haze, crisp and inviting, head not as billowous as I'd like, poor retention (pretty much disappears altogether)

Aroma: fruity (pear?), grainy, bready, tart, waft of hops, not much yeast component (banana or clove), wisp of alcohol

Flavor: predominant bready/grainy flavor, slight tanginess towards the finish, mellow hop flavor in the background, some bitterness in the semi-dry finish, slight minerally astringency in the aftertaste, some clove in there somewhere

Mouthfeel: nice light body, crisp carbonation, tiny bit of astringency, pretty refreshing

Overall impression: It's pretty lacking in the appearance department (hardly any head, no lacing, etc.). ABV seems on the high end for the style. The flavor has a redeeming component to it that is hard to describe... the breadiness seems a bit different than a traditional german wheat beer. It's a good start for a brewery that has focused on lagers since it opened. The beer would improve with higher carbonation and more yeast in the bottle.
