On tap at the Copenhagen Airport in the Aviator/Carlsberg Lounge near the A gates and Mikkeller bar. Beer often tastes better when it’s free and that’s the case here. Good malt profile, a balance between sweet and roasty, and goes down smooth. Good flavor, not bad for the style.

Copenhagen 31/8 2017. 50 cl can from SuperBrugsen. Dark red can with signs all over advertising that this beer is brewed using the original yeast from 1883. Apparently they found a bucket of the stuff during renovations of Carlsbergs old buildings (and maybe the moon is made out of cheese).
Pours clear amber with yellowish bubbly head. Disappears almost completely.
Aroma is sweet caramel, nuts and lightly roasted malts.
Medium strong carbonation and watery palate.
Flavor is somewhat watery. Mostly sweet malts with only very modest bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish caramel.
It might be "the original yeast" - but that just goes to show that Carlsberg's beers back then were pretty anonymous too.

Carlsberg 1883 is the original choice. I am excited to try Carlsbergensis, which was later shared with Heineken.
A fresh malty nose with notes of caramel. I like the somewhat delicate impression. Very good soft taste of caramel with aftertaste of licorice. Very low bitterness.
Properly the best lager in the world. I will drink it again for $1.

A moderately multi amber logger with a nice, balanced, herbal hop note and strong Vienna malt influence on both the aroma and flavor. Carbonation is high and fuel is a bit thin, but still pleasant. Enjoyed with one of my favorite people – my son Aaron in Copenhagen, Denmark, at the Carlsberg brewery tour.

Dec. 2019: On tap at Cafe 2, Hirtshals. Copper colour, moderate white head. Moderately malty and grainy aroma and flavour, hints of caramel but not very sweet. Weak earthy hops. Dull, but not undrinkable.
