Jacobsen Vinterbryg is launched in a new version every year in October, and Vinterbryg 2018 - A Nutty Ale is a traditional top-fermented English dark ale. The roasted hazelnuts in combination with the malts give notes of roasted malt, caramel and cookies.

Copenhagen 22/122018. 75 cl bottle from Føtex. Jacobsens usual compact bottle and design. This time in Maroon. Apparently brewed with Hazelnut.
Pours hazy maroon with a red hue. Medium sized yellowish head. Settles as 1 cm thick layer of foam clinging to the sides of the glass. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is sweet and sugary with a prominent odor of nuts. Brown sugar, hazel nut, light odor of coffee and cocoa. A bit too sweet for my nose.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, texture. A little sticky.
Flavor is heavy sweet followed by a very moderate bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet and lingers for a while. Avoids being cloying by a mule's hair.
Too sweet to be truly enjoyable. But they actually manages to create a presence of nuts.
