No dating, but just arrived at the store, so assume fairly fresh.
Slightly hazy deep amber, with two fingers of light tan head.
Smell is light toffee and caramel, with flashes of wet burnt wood, and faint fresh spicy hop aroma, as the head fades.
Taste is toasted sourdough bread, with faint wood and toffee. Slight hop spiciness. Some light acetic tang underlying it all, and lingering afterward. Light bitterness , followed by light sweet aftertaste.
Initially smooth, with pleasant moderately sharp carbonation bite building to a moderately dry finish. Seems just the right amount of carbonation. Slight sour tang lingers at the sides of the tongue and lower front of the mouth.
Overall enjoyable and easy-drinking. The sour element took a little getting used to, but I DO like sours, so fair enough - just not expecting that in this style, albeit in only my fifth? beer of this sort. That said, I'd highly recommend it. :)
