Off-black (as in slightly dirty engine oil) with one finger of tan head, that leaves a 1/4" ring, and light surface sheeting.
Smell is cola and cocoa, lightly-roasted malt, slight woody aroma, and light,slightly-sweet bread dough.
Taste is cola, cocoa, lightly-earthy charred wood, light sourdough tang, with light bitterness. Dry pumpernickel breadcrust flavor in the aftertaste.
Feel is light-medium, lightly-slick at first, followed by light , very, very fine carbonation tingle then bite. Drying on the second half, building to a very dry aftertaste reminiscent of rice beers.
Overall , smooth and easy-drinking. My second beer from them, and though that sourdough flavor takes a little getting used to, I'm liking it more and more. Glad I got this, and and looking forward to more. :)
