I got my growler filled at Westmere Beverage in Guilderland on 11/15/12. This is what they say about this beer on their website:
"Strong Imperial Stout made with Guatemalan bittersweet chocolate, organic cocoa nibs and locally ground coffee from Caffe Vero. Aged in bourbon barrels!!! 8.0% abv."
A: Poured from the growler into a pint glass. Body is black with almost no carbonation. Produces a thin wisp of greyish head. No lace.
S: Roasted coffee, cocoa and dark chocolate.
T: Follows the nose: lots of coffee. Also bitter dark chocolate. Hint of bourbon, but it's not terribly strong - which is fine as far as my tastebuds are concerned (I don't like it a bourban-bal-aged stout is overwhelmed by the bourbon). Heat from the ABV is noted on the back end of the palate and in the belly. Lingering dark chocolate-type bitterness; think high-cacao content chocolate. Also roasted coffee bean-like bitterness noted.
M: Medium in heft; carbonation is nearly non-existent, but the body doesn't seem heavy enough to make this slick. Tempted to knock down the score here due to a lack of carbonation, but I'll leave it at 4.0....
O: Good stuff. About to settle in with a Stones documentary (Crossfire Hurricane) and the rest of this growler. Should be good.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
