A Howling Wilderness is an XPA (or Extra Pale Ale) with 5% ABV.
This punchy pale ale is brewed with Pilsner, Oat Malt, White Wheat malts and hopped with Citra, Riwaka, and Nectaron.
Expect a light to medium body, straw yellow to golden color. Moderate haze but not 100% opaque. Strong notes of pineapple, peach, and passionfruit while maintaining moderate bitterness. We call it Extra for a reason!

16oz can purchased from the fridge as a single for $5.20 plus tax. Canned on: 2 APR 2026, so this beer is almost two months old.
Look: It's a very hazy, very pale ale. Almost looks like a pina colada - yellowish with a slightly orange tinge and a turbid haziness. There was a thick off-white head that receded to a thin layer. Looks pretty good for what it is.
Smell: It smells really nice. Definitely getting citrusy, grapefruity hops up front along with grassy and creamy bubblegum notes on the back end. Some vegetal onion and green bell pepper notes on the finish after swirling the glass.
Taste: This is quite tasty. I think that the balance of flavors here is very nice. Up front, the beer is sweet, malty, and creamy and presents citrus and stone/tropical fruit notes (getting lots of grapefruit and some peach and pineapple). The beer also has a juicy acidity that I am welcoming. The finish has a mild to moderate bitterness, as well as dryness. As long as I'm not drinking more than one of these at a time, it's an enjoyable beer for me. I think that the flavors are just a bit over the top in terms of ripe fruity flavors, so that's personally not something that I am the biggest fan of.
Feel: The carbonation and mouthfeel are very nice. It's the perfect level of carbonation and the mouthfeel is creamy yet refreshing and easy to drink.
Overall: Prime Station Brewing is a new local brewery and I was intrigued to try this. Truth be told, when I purchase this I did not realize that it would be a Hazy Pale Ale and I had expected Xtra Pale Ale to be an American Pale Ale that was not hazy. Nonetheless, I am enjoying this as they did a good job with it. Contrast and balance are the names of the game and they nailed it. I would enjoy it more if it was dialed back a bit in terms of the maltiness and hop burn. I'm looking forward to trying their other beers!
