Atmosphere is casual with low to medium lighting spanning from the bar up the few steps into the dining room. At the bar, on the inside wall, there are murals of wild boars. Quaint and cozy.
Quality of the brews are good. My only complaint is that they all come in frosted mugs and are served a bit on the cold side. Most of the masses actually appreciate that and I won't knock off points for my preference. Besides, I don't mind letting the brews warm up a bit...especially with the great Happy Hour prices of $2 for a 20 oz mug. They also have pitcher specials that can't be beat.
Service is usually pretty good. Friendly servers could be a bit more knowledgeable about the beers but on strictly a service level, it was good.
The selection of beer is ok. They usually have 6 or 7, ranging from a Pilsner, Ras Wheat, Pale Ale, IPA, Oatmeal Stout, Scottish Ale, and a seasonal.
The food is good. Check out the specials at the bar during Happy Hour for some great discounts and good eating. I like the Nachos and the Cheese Fries.

Come for the happy hour. The $2 beers are transitional in nature but the brewer gets to play with the seasonal and sometimes comes up with a winner. The Kolsch was my recent favorite. The Scottish is a bit thin, but still the best of the everyday selection. My wife (a Miller Light drinker) enjoys the Pigtail Ale.
This is a restuarant first and is designed for the tourists. The beer is a "novelty". That said, it's the best place is the area to come for a fresh made pint at a reasonable price. The chicken wing appetizer is the best. The atmosphere is dark wood casual at the bar. The wait staff does a good job.
Watch out for the crowds during the high season, but if you're in the area for an extended stay, bar seats are always available in the off season and the mug club is a good deal.

The bar is straight ahead when you enter. It's quite inviting, my family and I stopped by here for a quick break and a snack. The menu was average to just better than average. On to the important part, the beer. The first one I tried was the I.P.A. I then went for a Scottish Ale and had the Stout for dessert. The first thing to catch my attention was the fact that the bartender offered me a room temperature glass for my IPA, I really thought this was cool. Also the fact that the stout was nitrogen pushed and served at cellar temperature. All and all well worth the stop!

This is a really cool spot in the Barefoot Landing, one of the prime venues in North Myrtle. The beers are good, the pool tables nice as a diversion, The mug club is a hit, and the location can't be beat being near the front of the center. Walking distance to great music at the Blues Club. Decent parking, but congested during peak periods. Recommended stop in this area.

A very nice place to sit back and down a few cool ones.
Atmosphere was very laid back when we were there in the early afternoon, the place only had a few patrons at the time.
Seven brews of their own on tap, the best of which I found to be the IPA followed closely by the Boar's Snout Stout.
The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about their products.
I would definetly return there.

While on vacation in SC, we stopped by Barefoot Landing to walk around the shops. The Mad Boar Restaurant & Brewery is located in the front of the complex, near the Alligator Adventure.

My wife and I just stopped in for a quick pint or two, and the place was packed. There was a short wait for tables and there was only two bar stools empty when we arrived. The place is loud, and there were several loud intoxicated patrons at the bar which made my visit less desirable. They had 5 beers on tap, and the two we sampled were mediocre at best (Stout and IPA).

The dining room is large and the bar area is nicely decorated with a large ornate wooden shelves. There is a fireplace on the opposite side of the bar. Nice atmosphere, but this is surely a place that sucks in plenty of tourists. Unless you are in the area, I wouldn't travel long and far to visit this place.
