St Arnou St. Cloud (4.5%)
Another different beer at the St Arnou brewhouse, another different serving glass. My St Cloud wit Beer poured with a thin head and a slightly hazy straw color. It looks more like a chill haze than an unfiltered wheat haze, though.
The smell of the beer offers a slight orange character, with virtually no hops and no malt smell. A bit disappointing.
Taste is a slightly sweet malt backed up by a bit of citrus flavour, which Im assuming comes from orange peel, or maybe lemon. This is definitely a light tasting brew, and one thats sure not to offend, in true St. Arnou style. Like their pilsner, this would be fantastic on a sunny, warm day outside. St. Arnou beer seems to have an identity crisis, however. St. Arnou himself was a French Saint, as the story goes. This is a Belgian Style Wit Beer. If youre going to go ahead and say Wit shouldnt you also spell beer bier? Or maybe my sampling of beer is getting to me.

This is a pitiful witbier. If Hoegaarden had a light beer it would taste like this.
Poured a cloudy white with a thin foam head. You could smell a slight citrus smell. But it was nothing to write home about.
Weak in flavour. Pretty awfull really. Didnt finish the beer.

This beer is very much like Hoegaarden. If served in a hexagonal glass I would be fooled. Many characteristics are identical - lemony citrus zest, spicy/effervescent mild tang, and everything else you might read on the other witbier's reviews are applicable here. I am surprised that an Australian brewery could do such a similar and successful knock-off. Not bad.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
