St. Arnou Kildara (4.5%)
For some reason (tax-related, Im sure), all of St. Arnous beers ring in at 4.5% alcohol.
The Kildara is an Irish red that I think might be better classified as a cream ale.
The beer pours with a nice Guinness or Fullers-like cascading effect. The beer is a lovely dark copper colour with a head that would last for an hour. In fact, it does. On the side of the glass.
Little smell is present over the frothy, Guinness-like head. What is there is a slight acidic smell. I had this beer at the St. Arnou brewhouse on Little Collins Street in Melbourne. I have to hand it to them, the taste is amazingly smooth and drinkable. The beers a thick cream style with nice balance of sweetness and bitterness, although hops are not detectible.
Mouthfeel is silky smooth and thick. A couple of these would fill a belly up for sure.

Looks like Kilkenny, creamy head, pretty much the same deep amber red colour. Not bad, smooth texture, prickly caramelly, sultana malt characters, on the sweeter side of the scale, but not too bad. A touch sticky. Had it draught at the Brisbane Festival of beers.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
