This was my last beer of the night. I didn't want desert, but still had a bit of a sweet tooth. The beer is jet black with a dark tan head.
Nice nose of roasted malts, coffee, and baker's chocolate.
This was served a bit to cold. But once warmed, the roasted malts, coffee and chocolate notes really shine.
The mouth is a bit thin, but the taste overcomes and helps moves this up the scale a bit. It was a nice way to end the evening.

The menu advertises that the Black Magic stout now outsells the Old Market Pub's previous stout 10 to 1! I shudder to think what their previous stout was like. Or maybe, they accidentally served me some of their old stout they couldn't sell.
Appearance: Very dark, minimal head that dissipated quickly. Light lacing.
Smelled dark roasted malts, a bit of charcoal, not a whole lot, which I guessed might have been from a lack of head.
Actually, lack of smell may have been because of a lack of taste. Wow, for such a dark beer, so little taste. Dark, roasted malt flavor. Not even really any coffee, chocolate, smoke, molasses or anything else. Very plain. Did I get a bad batch? What's going on here?
Mouthfeel was about as bad. Watery. At least it wasn't thick and tasteless. That part was balanced. Weird, I've never had a stout like this before. I can't help but wonder if something went wrong. Drinkability was about as low as I can remember for a dark beer. This isn't representative of all of the beers at Old Market. Maybe I'll have to try again a while later to see if it's the same.

Black Magic Nitrogen-Powered Stout (its official title) is an especially milk-like stout with a light powdered-cocoa aroma and smooth chocolaty taste. The abundant flavor is delivered with refined delicacy creating a beer that is creamy in taste, texture, and complexion. It is dark as Johnny CashÂ’s coffin (sorry, Johnny) with a sensual beige head of good duration. Exceptionally relaxed and drinkable.
