From notes. Had this at the (apparently?) new location near the LLoyd Center called Broadway Grill and Brewery. It's not listed on BA, but shares a website with the Old Market Pub and Brewery.
Looks like a stout. Black, decent tan head with some retention and thick-ish lacing.
Smell is is sweet and very strongly of vanilla. Maybe some maple poking around in there too, but primarily vanilla? Roasted barely? Not so much. Not at all really. Pretty one dimensional.
Malty sweet, plenty of vanilla, a wee hint of maple and some very mild roast buried underneath.
smooth rich and creamy.
one is more than plenty, at least in this instance. Knowing what it's like, it could be a good dessert beer. But it is way more vanilla than it is stout. I think if the roasty character were amped up and the vanilla/maple toned down, they might be on to something special, or at least a solid stout.

The Maple Vanilla Stout was one of their seasonal Beers. It is Jet black with a dark tan head. The glass is covered by sheets of lacing.
Just as advertised, lots of vanilla and maple backed by roasted malts, coffee and brown sugar.
The taste tracks very close to the smell. I tasted lots of vanilla with maple highlights, but this is clearly a stout by virtue of the almost burnt malts, toffee and dark fruits. My only complaint is a minor one. The beer was served to cold, but after 10 minutes of warm-up, it is good to go. Note there were no artificial or off notes, just a solid beer.
Worth seeking out as this is a perfect desert beer.
