Sampled at the Broadway Grill and Brewery location on 5/27/09, reviewed from notes
A-Almost black with some red around the edges though, thin 1/4 inch light tan head that was bubbly and went away quickly, no retention or lacing
S-Lots of dark chocolate, roasted malts, burned sugar, weird tarty aromas, and light cherries
T-Mild milky chocolate at first, berries and vanilly sugar in the middle, finish is slightly tarty, was expecting to be at least dry or sweet but it was neither, did not change as it warmed, just got harder and harder to drink
M-Weirdly sour, barely roasted, and dry mouthfeel, thin bodied for a RIS, too much carbonation taste lingers too long
D-Alcohol is not hidden, it appears to be barrel aged based on the misplaced fruit tastes and lingering sourness, even if it was wine barreled it did not come out well at all, a few sips and I was through with this
This was quite possibly the worst interpretation of this style I have ever had, almost spit it out when I tried it, weird musty tart taste to it, would not touch again, not recommended
