I had 2 different years and the latter was far below the other. The first was terrific. I'm not sure if it was the brewers or stores mess up.
I'm reviewing the one I enjoyed.
By the way this is still being made. I lived a couple miles from the place for 2 years. They still make the two beers on here and quite a few others. The Weihnachsbier is one of my favorites.
I can't say I remember much of the beer now. It was grainy which is typical for the area. However they do a nice job of balancing which is sadly not always typical.

Found in a grocery store somewhere on the edge of the Austrian Alps. The standard brown half liter bottle sports a green and gold label with a red and white shield above the name. No ingredient information. Best before 1/24/08, I bought it at the end of February (oops!) and opened it on 3/5/08.
Pours a clear light burgundy under a very short-lived half finger light tan head that manages to disappear almost completely without a trace. (Wonder if that is due to age...) The nose is mild, with caramel and nut tones. The mouth is fairly light and reasonably prickly. The taste is still quite good - sweet caramel, a bit of malt, and a nice if not overpowering espresso dry bitter. The syrup sweetness and coffee bitter blend well together and last well after the swallow, making for quite a nice overall impression. Not bad at all.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
