Bought this at the brewery. This beer contains 4% organic honey from the regional (Hochland=Mühlviertel) bee keepers. I served it at elevated temperatures as recommended and poured into my Stift Engelszell snifter.
Some white foam that is rather coarse and reduces fast to nothing. Body is a straw honey golden brilliant delight with coarse and fine bubbles visible
Smell is sweet pale malts like in a bock, furthermore waxy and floral aroma from the honey.
Taste is typical sweet alcohol of a bock, some floral taste in the middle and a gentle but distinct bitterness
Body is on the light end of the scale without being watery and some tickling carbonation but also a faint smoothness on the palate and tongue
I like this much more than your regular heller Bock, because it got this extra honey aroma, taste and even mouthfeel to it. Not dominant at all but it does add a little something that makes the beer a really nice one. Well done again Hofstettners!
