IPA that was treated with the Eisbock method and then dry-hopped with some local (Mühlviertel) experimental hops
orange, murky, fine bubbles, slightly off-white thin foam fine and coarse
certainly some sweet booze in the nose with a whole basket of tropical fruits, mango, papaya, apricot as well, pear, ends only lightly bitter for such a huge IPA.
sweetness and booze on the tongue
medium to full body, harshness from the alcohol, warming, fine gentle carbonation
Very interesting tropical hops from Austria. I would like to see this more often. Would like to use it in one of my homebrews. Probably need to make a trip to the homeland again.
This is already quite good but it could definitely use some age on it to soften the booziness. This sounds weird for a hoppy bear, but I had versions before and it definitely profits from age and somehow maintains its hoppy aromas. The bottle is very carefully designed for the purpose. I am happy to have another one at the back of the beer cabinet. To be continued...
2.5 year later the booziness is indeed gone and the whole brew more gentle. The hops are still there but a little less expressive of course. Incredible stuff for sure.
