Brewing notes from the brewery (translated into English): Brewed in 2013 as a Christmas beer with spices: orange peel, cinnamon and cardamom. 660L from that brew were barrel aged for more than a year in Niepoort port wine barrels to pick up port wine notes and to sour.
I am drinking this years later in December 2017.
It is colored red-brown, has little foam and some big bubbles.
Aroma is barrel, port, red fruits, candied oranges
Nicely tart, port, red fruits
rather thin body with some tannic feel, little well integrated carbonation
Enjoyable sour beer. not much of the spiced winterbier left, which is probably a good idea.
