This Beer is very bland hardly any taste. Does have slightly a little bit of Citrus on the nose. This Beer was canned on 4-11-18 over 3 months old so not fresh at all so maybe I'm probably not giving it fair review. Although I think Beer can last longer if it's canned compared to bottling it.

 

A light golden color, a little cloudy, with a pleasingly foamy head that dissipates fairly rapidly; mildly aromatic; not much in the way of mouthfeel; mild flavor, a light IPA.

This is a treat for me because I can not get it up in extreme Northern IN where we reside. We come here once a year to visit family over the holidays and make a point to get some from this brewery because it is so good.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

First beer we had once settled in on vacation. Great choice. This to me was the definition of a session IPA. It had great color. Flavor was spot on for what I picture in my head always for sessions. A nice hoppy, but not overpowering. It also had a great finish. Can't wait for another later.

Not pleased. When I go to a state I try as many local beers as I can. Huger street puts this to shame although not impressed with that either. The finish of this session is lacking. Move on from this.

Things look good enough at the start: a giant, creamy ivory head sits atop a moderately hazy, very effervescent pale gold body, leaving nice, sticky sheets of rotten lacing; head retention is modest. The light-medium nose is surprisingly yeasty, including some hints of estery spice that one would not expect in an IPA; behind the yeast lurk some kaffir lime and a hint of more traditional citrus, and slight alcohol overtones ride above it. The nose reminds me of nothing so much as a less intense version of Stone Citrusy Wit, definitely not what I expect out of a can that says "Session IPA" on it. Up front, the palate follows the nose: a tartish citrus-and-yeast flavor, mildly bitter from hops; mid-palate the citrus gains a bit on the yeast, but the banana/clove notes emerge to retaliate, and the tartness increases in the absence of any countering malt character. The finish is a modest hit of tart lime, and is somewhat dry; the linger is a mild yeasty citrus/pine bitterness that lasts for awhile. Mouthfeel is as expected for a light-bodied beer of this ABV, but avoids being watery; the texture is slightly creamy and medium-prickly from the assertive, coarse-grained carbonation.

Because of the uncharacteristically Hefeweizenesque yeastiness on both the nose and the palate, to the point that yeast/ester becomes the defining characteristic of the beer, eclipsing the hops, this beer does not come across as an IPA at all, and I have graded it accordingly. Were it billed as a "Hoppy Witbier" or something similar it would probably rate about a point higher. (12 oz can, 38 days after pkg)
