This beer is one of the five collaboration beers that was brewed specifically for the 2014 Cleveland Beer Week. Five Cleveland/North East Ohio breweries teamed up with five out of state breweries into pairs and each pair brewed a special, one off beer that was kegged and served on-tap at each respective brewery involved as well as local around town during the week of Cleveland Beer Week. Our local grocery store chain Heinen's, which is a big supporter of craft beer and especially local craft beer, also got kegs of this to sell growlers of in their stores during Cleveland Beer Week. I tried all five of these collaboration beers on the opening night of Cleveland Beer Week, and this one is the one I like the best so i went to Heinen's to acquire a growler. Poured out of a growler into one of my pint glasses, this beer pours a very clear, light to medium copper color with a white head about 1/4 inch thick when poured that settles too quickly to a thin ring lining the inside of the glass along with some nice big cluster swirls of foam on the beer's surface. Decent lacing. Aromas of some biscuity, slightly toasted, caraml malty sweetness followed by hints of wheat along with notes of tart sourness and a bit of citrus hops. Flavors of slightly toasted, biscuity malty sweet notes upfront followed by a definite wheat presence that is followed by bits of tart sourness that is all rounded out with a touch of earthy, citrus hop bitterness. Interesting mix of flavors here. All of the flavors seem a bit mild and dialed back. In a lot of ways this reminds me of some English Mild Ales I have had. An interesting beer, and I am glad I got to try and review this. Has a slightly crisp, mainly smooth, medium bodied mouthfeel with light to moderate carbonation.
