My brother in law bought me a crowler of this for Christmas. It poured a nearly opaque dark amber with very thin head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had a malt presence with bitter hop accent. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with subtle hop finish. The mouthfeel is medium in body with good carbonation. Overall it's a decent beer.

Melt Lakewood.
Different, very dark mahagony. Good flavors, chocolate upfront then good piney bitterness builds.

Enjoying this beer on-tap at the brewery, as this is yet another one of the GLBC's on-tap only "pub exclusive" beers. Served to me in a standard pint glass, this beer draws a very dark brown, almost black color that's not interested in letting in any light whatsoever. Has a tan head that's about an inch thick when first served that eventually settles to a medium to thick sized ring lining the inside of the glass with lots of very nice lacing. Aromas of dark roasted malts with slight hints of dark chocolate and coffee that give way to a definite rye spicedness that provides a nice bite that's flowed with a citrus hop smell. The taste is pretty much the same, with dark roasted malt notes with hints of the aforementioned chocolate and coffee that vibe way to a nice spice hint from the rye that's followed by nice citrus hop bitterness. Although in a lot of ways if I didn't know any better I'd think I was drinking a very good Black IPA, this beer's foverall flavor profile is surprisingly well balanced. Has an overall crisp, yet somewhat smooth and frothy, medium to full bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Has a clean finish. A very good beer all around.
