Yet another on-tap only, “pub exclusive” at the GLBC. Served in a snifter glass, this beer draws a pretty dark, clear, amber brown color with a tan/off-white head that’s about half an inch thick thick when first drawn and served. Settles to a thick ring of foam lining the inside of the glass and minimal lacing. Aromas of roasted and toasted caramel malt sweetness, some nuttiness and hints of chocolate. Also has a hint of earthy hop bitterness. The taste is pretty much the same, with roasted and toasted caramel malt sweetness, some nuttiness and hints of chocolate, and even a slight touch of black coffee bitterness along with some earthy hops that provide just the right amount of bitterness. Good balance of flavors overall. Has a crisp, just slightly prickly, also smooth and frothy, medium to full bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Easy to drink in the way a well crafted beer ought to be. Has a clean finish with a slightly dry and also sweet and bitter aftertaste. Another excellent beer from the fine folks at the GLBC.
