Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours red orange with a small white head. Smells of citrus, especially grapefruit. Tastes of citrus hops with a bit of grapefruit. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

Poured a semi-lucid burnt orange color into a pint glass with tons of visible carbonation and a creamy white head that dissipates quickly but leave an ample amount of fine lacing behind. Aroma of oranges and grapefruit with slight hint of passion fruit present. Citrus flavors up front with constant bitterness throughout and nice clean tart finish. Light to medium bodied with very little malt presence. Not very complex, but easy to drink and quite refreshing. Nice job guys!

7/15/23, Apothecary Tap House in Morgantown
Beautiful copper color, foamy head that dissipated quickly leaving a beautiful lacing.
Very fruity, juicy sweet in aroma. I can get the grapefruit, but the aroma is more orange. Bright citrus and a slight sour finish off the nose.
Bright carbonation hits the tongue immediately, but settles quickly without foaming up the mouth. Very tart, bitter and sour grapefruit flavors abound with a slight toasted cracker finish. But the bitterness that remains in the mouth is wild! It's a nice, drinkable offering.

Poured from a 16 oz can into an imperial pint glass.
L: pale copper. Had a nice head but it very quickly disappeared
S: strong grapefruit
T: also a lot of grapefruit with just enough hops to keep it fresh
F: crisp
O: solid. Thought there was just enough grapefruit over hops to make it very tasty

Copper penny colored with a fingernail of off white around the rim and covering nearly all of the top. The aroma is of citrus and grapefruit. I’m tasting citrus quickly transitioning into lightly bitter and tart grapefruit. The mouth is dry and sticky.

Pours a hazy pink orange. Medium foam. Light grapefruit aroma. Sweet ruby red grapefruit body. Mild bitter finish. Not too sweet. Very good grapefruit flavor. One of the better ones I've had.

Overall, I was rather disappointed by this IPA, which continues GLBC's trend of seemingly tweaking the same base IPA with various additives.
L: Caramel Red, fits with the beer's namesake.
S: Nothing particularly stood out in terms of the aroma beyond some mild citrus notes.
T: Again, this just tasted like a malty GLBC IPA. No real grapefruit flavor stood out. I found it to be more piney than anything, with an occasional caramel note. I honestly had trouble finishing this one, because it had nothing that particularly warranted my attention.
Feel: Maybe it was just the tap system at the bar I was at, but I was surprised how flat, yet thick the overall mouth feel was on this beer.
Overall, I wasn't a particular fan of this iteration of GLBC IPA. It was neither as hop expressive as Lake Erie Monster, nor as dynamically flavored as Chillwave or Nosferatu.

I like this outfit and I like this beer. I don’t understand some of the reviews.
L: drinking from the can and it’s a crazy can. Evoking little shop of horrors or some thing. Except it’s a grapefruit.
S: I get the grapefruit smell. Little bit of sweetness in the nose.
T: I get plenty of grapefruit flavor. Get that slight bitterness of the pith. The taste may not be the strongest point. A bit one dimensional. But still tasty.
F: smooth and rich
Oh: not my favorite from this group but definitely worthy.

Ruby’s Revenge from Great Lakes Brewing. Purchased at Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA, 27/07/22 for $ 3.00 (Including tax), $ 0.188/oz. In reefer at store, stored at 37 degrees at home. Reviewed 29/07/22. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Stamped on bottom of can “08/26/22”. Served at 45.6 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King Snifter. Final temperature 53.7 degrees.
Appearance – 3.75.
First pour – Straw (SRM 3), slight haze.
Body – Pale Gold (SRM 4), opaque. When rear-lite, translucent gold with suspension of near-microscopic particles.
Head – Average (Maximum 3.2 cm, aggressive center pour), white, creamy with good retention, receding to a three to six mm crown fed by effervescence, and a rocky partial cap. A couple islands of lacing remain as the head contracts.
Lacing – Fair. Irregular jagged band of tiny to small bubbles. See also above.
Aroma – 3– A bit of tropical fruit and hops. No particular aroma of grapefruit. No malt, no yeast.
Flavor – 3.25 – Follows the nose. A bit tropical fruity with some hop bitterness. Again, no grapefruit, at least no Ruby Reds. Weak malt, no yeast. No ethanol (8 % ABV as marked on label) aroma or taste. Moderate gastric warming. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Ends slightly bitter.
Palate – 3 – Medium, watery, soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.25 Disappointing. I LOVE Ruby Reds and eat a tonne of them every season – this beer is distinctly lacking their distinct flavor and aroma. Other than destroying my grapefruit expectations, I would have rated this Impy IPA higher.
