Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a tulip

L: Nearly clear golden amber pour. 2 fingers of foamy white head leaves a great rim of lacing.

S: Sweet... grainy and fruity. Peach, mango, and apricot.

T/F: Malty... strong backbone with a surprisingly fruity and non-bitter hop profile. Lots of stone fruits... peach and apricot... notes of mango. Very mild citrus. Not much in the way of resin/pine. Medium in body... almost rich. Finish is bittersweet hops and fruit.

O: A malty/fruity DIPA. Not what I was expecting... light on the bitterness but still pretty tasty. Definitely one I'd have again.

Light Amber caramel look to it.
I smell layers of pineapple, grapefruit, orange. Pops right out to the nose.
Tastes follows the nose with a good deal of pine thrown in.
Lots of bubbly carbonation.
Overall it is what it claims to be - hop madness.

Hazy orange brew - bountiful head with outstanding lacing.

Massive Hops smell. Very raw, tropical. Seems dry hopping has taken over this brew and as a hop head I love it. You know what your getting.

Bananas and sugar upfront. Mostly light. Followed by intense bitter. Dry with some spice and a bit of heat. Creamy and smooth. Some tackiness.

Real nice mouthfeel. Full flavor, allowing the full weight of the hops - or over-hopping, to take center stage.

Over the top - check. Hop forward - check. Welcomed - check.

I bought a 4pck of this from the beer store around the corner. It poured a clear orangish with white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had hints of sweet malt mixed with citrus hop. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink for a DIPA...good grapefruit bite that gets smoothed by caramel malt finish. The mouthfeel was fuller with good carbonation. Overall it's another solid offering from Great Lakes.

Inspired by yesterday's solar eclipse, I embarked on a modest brewery horizontal with GLBC. Sadly, this one marks the end of the line for me, but I will be on the lookout for other GLBC beers to review.

From the bottle: "Beware, drinker! Hop hysteria could happen to you! Especially after indulging in our dry-hopped Double IPA's shockingly intense tropical aromas and hair-raising bitterness."

I Pop!ped the cap with my hophead hands shaking in gleeful anticipation of what was coming. A gentle pour followed by an in-glass swirl raised two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with decent retention. Color was Amber to Deep Amber/Light Copper (SRM = > 9,< 13) with NE-quality clarity. Nose was raucous with a pineapple upside-down cake aroma in the middle of a pine forest! Pineapple, caramel, pine/evergreen, mmm. I raised the glass to my parched lips and took a deep draught in my mouth. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, not quite creamy, but close. The beer went straight to work on my unsuspecting tongue, hitting it with jackhammers, knives, hammers & tongs, just going medieval on it. My sinuses filled with a pine scent & things began to spin. This was a no playin'-around throwdown. Leave this one to the professional hopheads, kids! Finish was dry, slightly bitter & totally satisfying. Whoo!

L: pours hazy gold filled with rapidly rising bubbles under a 1" cream colored foam cap with moderate retention

S: smells of citrus, bread crumb, some resin and a trace of ditch weed

T: flavors start mildly sweet with citrus, light fruit, resin, bread crumb, and herb leading to an assertive bitter finish

F: The body and carbonation are medium

O: This big bold Double IPA achieves a nice balance between the malt and hop flavors and the hop bitterness.

Pours an orange gold into a fifteen ounce glass mug the same temperature as the beer. Short one finger off white head that dissipates rapidly leaving a thin steady rime. Very little lacing.

Hits the nose with big fruity hops including ripe white grapefruit, pineapple and some resinous pine. Dark fruit. Maybe plum?

Fruity hops dominate the flavor with ripe white grapefruit and big pineapple. Some pine but well balanced by a strong malt backbone. Biscuit.

Medium mouthfeel with great carbonation. Layers of piney hops build on the palate sip after sip.

A very good offering of a American Double IPA. Goes down easy and leaves one wanting another.

A-pours a clear copper color with an off white head with good retention and some lacing
S-a bit muddled and muted, some pine, malt, blueberry
T-pine, citrus, solid malt background
M- medium bodied with average carbonation
O- a little lackluster. I'm a big fan of great lakes but this one fell short for me
