On draft. Beige head.

Midwest double IPA. Malty with some caramel notes followed by floral hops. Earthy, some dankness, some resin, and grapefruit citrus. A bit of alcohol shows in the finish.

Body is a beautiful nearly clear Amber hue. Pours with a 1-2 finger foamy white head. A white collar is left behind with some lacing in the glass.

Nose is not very powerful and is mostly juicy tropical fruit. A mild caramel malt background is also detectable

Flavor is full of juicy tropical hoppy fruit flavor up front with a weak malt backbone. Some pine and a lot of rind bitterness linger on and on.

Mouthfeel is medium weight with medium carbonation and a juicy consistency.

Analytically this is an excellent beer overall. Lots of juicy hop flavor with enough of a malt backbone to make this not a total hop bomb. The over the top tropical flavor and residual bitterness are what leaves me hesitant to rate this one higher. Chillwave is a much better DIPA.

only found this in-store today, has a Best-By date of 7/10/17 so very likely it's old

pours a solid amber with a thick head, looks pretty great.

smell is very light, ton of malt. not much to it honestly

taste is very bland. hoppiness and malt to it but nothing sticks out. very very bland

was expecting much better things for this. maybe my 4pack is borderline old but it's still bland

Look: It pours dark golden and clear with an off white head. Head retention is moderate.

Smell: There are aromas of tropical fruits and citrus. There are hints of grapefruit and Mango. There is a bready background.

Taste: The tropical fruit are dominate in the taste with mango and pineapple. There are citrus notes in the background with bread that is also in the background.

Feel: It has a moderate feel and is slightly slick on the palate. It has moderate bitterness in the finish.

Overall, this is a tropical fruit driven IPA with citrus and bread serving to provide some balance. Due to the moderate bitterness, it is very easy drinking.

This beer pours a clear amber-gold with an average head. The aroma is bright with citrus and tropical tones, pine grapefruit, guava, hibiscus, rose petal, and just a touch of caramel. The flavor features lots of bright pink grapefruit flesh and peel, tangerine, guava, hibiscus, watermelon rind, caramel, and a solid core of sticky bitterness. The mouthfeel is full with foamy carbonation. Overall this is a delicious DIPA, focusing on tropical and ctirus flavors, with just enough malt to give it richness.

Pours clear, copper in color with ½ inch head. Taste is pineapple, pine, caramel, biscuit, and grapefruit. Nice mix of sweet and bitter, medium-heavy bodied, with low carbonation. Makes for a great imperial IPA. The hops seem unique and interesting and there is a great deal of caramel malt. Great beer, great value…All night..Prefer this to Chillwave.

Great Lakes Hop Madness brewed by Great Lakes Brewing Co.,with an ABV of 8.00% This American Double Imperial IPA pours out a deep golden amber color with a nice white head. There is also a decent amount of lacing to this brew, it sticks to the side of the glass well. The smell is rich with hop bitterness, a slight sweetness. Then you pick up on some nice earthly grains and malts. There is a lot going on in this brew. Between the look and smell, this is one inviting IPA. Now for the taste, it is bold with hops bitterness and a super nice clean finish. You also pick up on the smooth earthly grains and malts. There is also going on in this American Double Imperial IPA. Great Lakes Hop Madness has a super nice balance to it there, is nothing overpowering about this IPA. This is one smooth IPA. It is really hard to pick up on the 8.00% ABV in this brew, it is just that smooth. This American IPA has a nice medium body to it. The mouth feel is Bold, Hoppy, Clean, Smooth and Refreshing. Overall I'm giving Great Lakes Hop Madness a 4.50 out of 5. I would definitely look this brew up again givin the chance to. Great Lakes Brewing Co., Did a real nice job with this brew.

Hmmm. Maybe Malt Madness. The hop profile is big, but not big enough.

It is a very pretty deep golden amber with light fizzing. The aroma is a weak but pure hops smell.

The taste is big. Loads of deep bitterness is overcome by malty sweetness. It's huge, with a great bitter aftertaste, but I expected more.

This is a great ale and maybe I will raise my ratings, but it is a misnomer to call it Hop Madness. Recommended.
