Another “pub exclusive”. Having this beer on nitro tap at the brewpub. This beer draws a very dark brown color with an off-white, slightly tan, creamy looking head that’s about 1/2 Inch thick when first drawn and served. Good retention and nice lacing on the inside of the glass. Aromas of roasted, slightly bready malts with strong hints of chocolate and coffee. Also a bit of earthy, perhaps just slightly piney, hops. The flavor profile is extremely similar, with the aforementioned roasted malts with some notes of chocolate sweetness and black coffee bitterness. This is rounded out with the aforementioned earthy, slightly piney, somewhat resinous, hop notes that give just the right amount of bitterness. A very well balanced flavor profile too. Has a smooth, frothy, creamy, medium bodied mouth feel with light to moderate carbonation. All of the flavors linger very nicely on my palate after each sip for the aftertaste. Another very enjoyable beer from the fine folks at the GLBC.
