Throwback Double IPA

Yet another on-tap only “pub exclusive” being enjoyed by me at the GLBC brewpub. Served in a snifter glass, this beer draws a clear, medium golden/copper color w/ a fluffy looking white head that's about half an inch thick when first drawn and served. Good retention, and head eventually settles to some small swirls of film layer foam surface coating with a medium sized ring lining the inside of the glass at the beer’s surface and excellent lacing. Aromas of some toasted, bready, caramel malt that gives way to a citrus, floral, piney hop presence. Has a similar taste, with slightly toasted, bready malts w/ slight caramel sweetness that gives way to a grapefruit, floral, piney, somewhat pungent hop bitterness. The hop flavors certainly dominate the flavor profile, but it isn't a blowout. The malt flavors also nicely present throughout. Has a crisp, also smooth, slightly resinous, medium to full bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Has a somewhat dry finish, and all of the flavors linger nicely for awhile on my palate after each sip. A very solid representation of this beer style. Another excellent beer here from the fine folks at the GLBC!
