I drank this beer from tap at the brew pub on a sunny terrace.
Although this beer is called Schwarz, the color was brown with a small frothy head. There was not a lot of carbonation going on.
Smell is earthy hops and some chocolate and cacao. This was all pretty mild and pleasant.
Taste is chocolate and cacao with an overall earthy hops taste and mild with a nice malty backbone.
For a Schwarz it lacks a little in the burned or toasted department. I seem to miss the black malt and molasses which give a Schwarz its distinct flavor.
Bitterness is very low and goes well with the style. The medium body of the beer suites the style and drinkability is near perfect.
This is not a Schwarzbier like the other ones I have tasted, but it certainly is a very good beer.
