Copenhagen 28/7 2025. 50 cl can from Netto Market Discount, Frankendamm, Stralsund. Red and white can with a little golden fortress and declarations about “Dem Deutschen Reinheitsgebot”.
Pours clear yellow with a mid-sized white head. A little bubbly. Settles as a 0,3 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Clinging to the sides of the glass. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet malty odor mingling sourish and slightly metallic scent. Sweet pale malts, bread and cardboard. Sour grains and metallic alcohol.
Light carbonation. Thin, watery, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed and balanced by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is lightly bitter with a sweet undertone. Lingers for a bit. Finish is semi-dry.
Not too bad for a beer produced for a discount supermarket.

.5L aluminum can acquired at a Netto discount market in Berlin, Germany. This is brewed exclusively for Netto stores. 5.40% ABV. Reviewed live. Expectations are low given the price point and style. Served cold into a Berliner Kindl Weisse glass.
No bubble show forms as it's poured.
HEAD: One finger wide. Off-white colour. Okay thickness and creaminess. Average retention (~2 minutes). Leaves no lacing as it recedes. The consistency and complexion are below average.
BODY: Clear translucent pale copper with yellow hues. Very generic, but seemingly aptly carbonated. Average vibrance. No yeast particulate or hop sediment is visible.
Far from unique or special for an export lager. I can't say I'm horribly excited to try this one, but it looks decent for a budget brew.
AROMA: Overly sweet. Munich malts, pilsner malts, grains, possibly adjunct, and barley.
No hop aromatics are present, and I don't find any yeast character. There're also no off-notes or overt alcohol.
An inoffensive aroma of above average strength. Definitely comes off cheap. I'm worried about metallic off-notes...
TASTE: ...My worries were unfounded. It's definitely cheap and overly sweet, but there are no off-notes here - not even any booziness. Cheap generic barley mixes with uninteresting pilsner malts and Munich malts to produce a very boring bland beer. This is the build of a textbook cheap lager, and has nothing to offer the discerning drinker.
Shallow depth of flavour. Extreme simplicity. Has some loose cohesion. Below average flavour duration. Average flavour intensity.
I can't say I like it, but in its defense it isn't watery.
TEXTURE: Smooth, wet, medium-bodied. Overcarbonated. This is a poor companion to the taste, and isn't good for the style. It should be clean, refreshing, light, soft, and approachable, but isn't. Luckily, it's not metallic or boozy.
OVERALL: A pretty basic budget lager. I've had around 10 budget brews from German supermarkets over the past few days, and this is one of the worse ones of the bunch. I'll take Lidl's plastic bottle pilsners over this at this price point. Not worth trying. Very forgettable throwaway stuff. Makes a decent cooking beer, I suppose.
