.5L aluminum can acquired at a Netto discount market in Berlin, Germany. This is brewed exclusively for Netto stores. 4.70% ABV. Reviewed live. Expectations are low given the price point and style. Served cold into a Berliner Kindl Weisse glass.
No bubble show forms as it's poured.
HEAD: One finger wide. Off-white colour. Okay thickness and creaminess. Average retention (~2 minutes). Leaves no lacing as it recedes. The consistency and complexion are below average.
BODY: Clear translucent yellow-copper. Very generic, but seemingly aptly carbonated. Average vibrance. No yeast particulate or hop sediment is visible. Clean.
Far from unique or special for a pils. Looks decent for a budget brew.
AROMA: Munich malts, pilsner malts, and barley. A muted aroma of light strength.
No yeast character, overt hop notes, alcohol, or off-notes are detectable.
TASTE: Corn, barley, pilsner malts, and some Munich malts. It's too sweet. Quite generic and cheap for a pilsner. Decently balanced. Painfully simple, lacking any subtlety and intricacy whatsoever. Shallow depth of flavour. Below average duration of flavour. Average intensity of flavour. It doesn't come together all that well.
TEXTURE: Smooth, wet, and light-to-medium in body. Unrefreshing. Stale. Poor overall presence on the palate. Doesn't suit the taste well at all.
Not oily, gushed, hot, boozy, astringent, or harsh.
OVERALL: A throwaway budget pilsner. Can't stack up to other beers in this price point and style. I wouldn't trifle with it again. Pretty bad stuff, but in its defense it's not watery. Difficult to drink for a pilsner given its poor quality. Ugh.
