Golden colour, small head that fades almost when you're pouring it yet. No lace. Aroma of almonds, molasses, artificial vanilla, fruits, notes of acetone. Medium body, creamy sweet palate, no carbonation. Taste of almonds, molasses, candy, fruits and some artificial vanilla. Strange beer, not bad, but the artificial notes and the acetone makes rate it lower.

I once got a birthday card that read "People who say that you are hard to shop for clearly don't know where to buy beer." or words to that effect. Hell, I am so easy to shop for that people now just pick up CANs of beer for me wherever they go and if it is one that I have already reviewed, we just drink it then and there. This one came to me courtesy of David Atkinson, a college chum from our time as undergrads at Pitt who now lives in Michigan and travels fairly extensively. He brought this back for me from Thailand (?), the Philippines (?), somewhere over in the western Pacific.
From the CAN: "Beer [-] Biere [-] Cerveza [-] Cerveja [-] Birra [-] [Beer in Arabic]"
It is labeled as "Extra Strong", which is why I have been putting it off until now. I am not afraid of a beer's ABV, but many times, if I am doing reviews, I don't really want a 12%er in the mix. Today, I am feeling adventurous, and like every CAN before it, things begin with a Crack! The tab fought me to the point that I was becoming afraid that it might snap off before it finally pierced the vent. Even so, there is a sight bend to the tab. I began with a light pour, but I was still seeing some haze, so I made an inverted Glug to get all 330-ml out of the CAN and into my glass. This created two fingers of dense, tawny head with great retention, producing sticky lacing as it fell. Color was an oh-so-slightly-hazy Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9). Nose smelled strongly of coconut and fusel alcohol. Now, I am not trying to be funny, but I really thought that I was smelling bourbon! I will give this high marks if it ends up tasting like bourbon. Mouthfeel was thick, almost syrupy. The taste was not necessarily bourbon, but it did have a sweet, toffee-like sweetness accompanied by a light coconut flavor. It was a bit sweet for my taste, but in no way was it undrinkable. In fact, it was maybe a little too easy as I was plowing through it like it was nothing. For all of the sweetness (and the ingredients list "glucose syrup"), it was really dry on the finish, likely due to the alcohol heat. I know that I could not take a steady diet of this, but it was a nice addition to The CANQuest (tm).
