This is a clear, deep golden-colored beer. Bubbles stream to the top of the glass as it is poured forming a slight head. Hops very noticeable, almost a piney or grassy smell. One can taste the hoppiness immeadiately but it soon passes with a somewhat dry aftertatse. Lightbodied, watery and a bit flat. Herold lives up to the lager style, but it does not stand out among its peers.

500 ml bottle, bought at Pivni Galerie, Prague. Deep golden colour, moderate head. Nice hoppy aroma with hints of caramel. Flavour is fairly malty (at least if you want to categorize this as a pilsener), but a substantial hoppy bitterness and solid ABV (5.8%) make this a very robust relative of the lighter-bodied pilseners. Long bitter aftertaste. Way ahead of your average lager-swill.
