Trent 17/7 2025. 50 cl bottle from Edeka, Ossenreyerstraße, Stralsund. Dark brown label with the brewery’s logo - a red fortress - and a little goat’s head.
Pours clear mahogany with a big off-white head. Stable. Settles as a thin layer of foam just covering the surface of the beer. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet malty odor mingling with a edge of alcohol. Toasted malts, caramel and toffee. Touch of brown sugar. Metallic alcohol.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, a bit greasy, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a strong sweetness followed by a moderately strong bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet with a light bitter undertone. Lingers for a while. Finish is sweet with a touch of alcohol.
Sweet Dunkel Bock.

A: Pours copper with a large creamy tan thick head. Slow dissipation leaves lots of lacings.
S: Malty, a bit sweet, light roast. Dark dried fruits.
T: Dark dried fruits, lots of cherries. Dry roasted malt. Some bitter hops.
M: Full bodied and light carbonated. Sweet and bitter aftertaste.
D: This is a pretty nice Bock. Could have been a little more complex - better balanced.

Courtesy of my flatmate's father, who brought this beer all the way from hometown Greifswald, NE Germany. Coming in a 500ml slim brown bottle, BB 01/2008, served chilled in a weizen glass.
A: dark copper in colour, topped with a light beige foamy head with good retention; moderate carbonation with fine fizziness. Looking really elegant.
S: semi-sharp brown-sugary, lightly caramelised sugar, sweet ripe plums, lightly roast-nuttiness, and lager's doughy sourness all mixed together. Refreshing, pleasant, balanced with sourness and sweet maltiness, with a certain depth, albeit not too complex.
T: sour dough and bready+toasty maltiness in addition to caramelised apple-ish fruitiness, a light touch of rum (due to the light tinge of alc.), and some lemony notes of lager, while a deepening roast tea-ish and sprig-ish bitterness (like a well-hopped Altbier) lingers extremely well with an impressive depth; clean finish.
M&D: soft fizziness with suitable carbonation, while the texture is largely clean; this is a really decent and delicious Bock bier, with a healthy balance b/w malts, hops, and lager-sourness. Many thanks go to my flatmate's father for taking the trouble bringing it over.
